FIRST AURORA™ EV-ICD IMPLANT IN INDIA

A proud achievement for Metromed International Cardiac Centre (MICC), Calicut. Our team successfully performed the FIRST AURORA™ EV-ICD IMPLANT IN INDIA Aurora™ Extravascular ICD (EV-ICD) implant in India, accomplished without an on-site proctor. The procedure was performed in a young patient with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD), a condition that can lead to life-threatening heart rhythm disorders and sudden cardiac death. Happy to share that the patient has recovered well and is doing excellently. The Aurora EV-ICD is a next-generation defibrillator that provides life-saving protection without placing leads inside the heart or blood vessels, while also offering Antitachycardia Pacing (ATP)—a major advancement, particularly for younger patients. This First-in-India milestone reflects MICC’s commitment to bringing the latest global innovations in cardiac rhythm management to patients in India.
